Went home with her Lord Wednesday September 16, 2020 at Birch Run Fields Assisted Living; age 89 years. Wilma Petzold was born on August 3, 1931 to the late Herman and Selma Petzold. She was married to Mervin Knoll on November 2, 1952, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Millington, they enjoyed 66 years of marriage. Mervin predeceased her on January 22, 2019. Wilma worked at Martin's Apparel as a seamstress for many years, while also helping her husband on the family farm. She was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Wilma enjoyed quilting and blanket making for church, missionary guild and volunteered at the Bethesda thrift store.
Surviving are her children Brian (Lisa) Knoll of Vassar, MI, Keith (Jenny) Knoll of Vassar, MI, Lynette (Bruce) Heinlein of Vassar, MI, Denise (Scott) Sommerfield of Munger, MI, Deborah (Charles) Zwerk of Reese, MI; grandchildren Andrea Lowe, Douglas Knoll, Rebekah Knoll, Jeffrey Knoll, Cory Knoll, Bret (Devin) Heinlein, Karah (Andrew) Leach, Lance (Lisa) Heinlein, Luke (Paige) Sommerfield, Lesley (Andrew Pichardo) Sommerfield, Bradley Sommerfield, Nicholas (Angie) Zwerk, Calvin Zwerk, Hillary (Mark) Romain; ten great-grandchildren; brother Ronald (JoAnne) Petzold; sister Norene Trappa; sisters-in-law Lorine Petzold, Bernice Schiefer, Loretta Weber and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Mervin, Wilma was proceeded in death by two brothers Robert Petzold, and Hilbert Petzold.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 11 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Rev. Joel Kaiser will officiate. Wilma's family will receive visitors at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Arrangements entrusted to Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Lutheran Church or Charity of Donor's Choice.
