Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Providence Park Hospital; age 83 years. Zina was born on August 31, 1934, in Ukraine to the late Gregory and Olena Marchenko. She was married to Vladimir Pyatenko in Rochester, NY on February 28, 1954; he survives her. Zina was an active member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. She was an avid golfer and participated in many civic activities in Frankenmuth.
Surviving besides her husband, Vladimir are 2 sons, Eugene (Lois) Pyatenko of Northville, MI and Dr. Michael (Carol) Pyatenko of Howell, MI; 2 grandchildren, Ashley (Christopher) Lambrix and Ryan Pyatenko; 2 great-grandchildren, Hunter and Wesley Lambrix; a sister, Val Zacharczenko and several nieces and nephews. Zina was predeceased by a brother, Anatole Marchenko.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 2143 Center Road, Burton, MI. Fr. Matthew-Peter Butrie will officiate with burial in St. Nicholas Cemetery. Zina's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church.
